What’s Your Mission?

What is the mission that you find yourself on at this phase of your life?

I came across this question recently and it made me think long and hard.

We are often encouraged to think, especially as a business owner, about our purpose, vision and mission. In other words, to think about why you exist at the deepest level. To describe the better world you are helping to create. And to focus on what you do and how you do it, practically and consistently.

And yet, having a mission is not just for businesses, but for everyone whatever phase of your life you are in. Each of us has a role to play in helping to create a better world and once we have the vision of what that might look like, we can get to work.

The truth is that there is a great deal of lip service paid to fulfilling a vision. When individuals cannot show courtesy, kindness to others and restore peace at home and yet declare their wish for ceasefires and peace abroad.

The world is desperate for transformation, brought about by acts of humanity and humility and yet people continue to seek profit and follow protocols in ways that dehumanise and even traumatise.

It is easy to feel helpless and hopeless and that humanity has lost its’ way.

The challenge for each of us is whether we want to contribute to the darkness or help to shine a light on what is possible.

There are many ways that we can find and commit to the mission that is relevant at this particular phase of our life and so make each day alive with meaning, recognising our unique opportunity to contribute to a better world and a better way.

My mission is to empower as many people as possible to live and work as ReSolutionaries, to resolve rather than avoid crises and challenges, with thoughtfulness, humour and humility.

My mission in life is not merely to survive
But to thrive and to do so
With some passion, some compassion
Some humour
And some style

My mission,
Should I choose to accept it,
Is to find peace with exactly
Who and what I am.
To take pride in my thoughts, my appearance,
My talents, my flaws and to stop this incessant
Worrying that I can’t be loved as I am.
